Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate: Exploring the Desert Gateway
Our journey begins in the bustling city of Marrakech, where we let ourselves be carried away by the charms of the Medina and the exotic aromas of spices. From Marrakech, we head south through the impressive High Atlas, passing through the majestic Tizi n’Tichka pass.
Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert”, we find ourselves surrounded by stunning desert landscapes and ancient kasbahs. We visit the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the film studios where epic movies were filmed. We spend the night in a charming riad in Ouarzazate, enjoying the tranquility of the oasis in the middle of the desert.
Day 2: Ouarzazate – Todra Gorges – Merzouga: Adventure in the Sahara Desert
On our second day, we head further into the Sahara Desert, heading to the stunning town of Merzouga. The journey takes us through spectacular desert landscapes, with sand dunes rising majestically against the blue sky.
Upon arrival in Merzouga, we prepare for an exciting camel ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes. We experience the magic of the desert as the sun sets over the golden dunes and prepare to spend two nights in a traditional Berber camp. Here, we immerse ourselves in the local culture, enjoy traditional music and marvel at the spectacle of a starry sky in the middle of the desert.
Day 3: Merzouga Desert – Nomadic Families – Khamlia Village – Erg Chebbi: Discover the Treasures of the Desert.
The third day is dedicated to exploring the natural and cultural wonders of Merzouga. In the morning, we have the opportunity to visit nearby nomadic villages and learn about their traditional desert lifestyle. In the afternoon, we explore the Erg Chebbi dunes, taking part in activities such as sandboarding and bird watching.
As night falls, we gather around a campfire to enjoy a traditional Berber dinner under a starry sky. It is an opportunity to reflect on the grandeur of the desert and the beauty of life in this remote environment.
Day 4: Merzouga Desert – Ziz Valley – Azrou Cedar Forests – Fez: Return to the Imperial Cities.
On our last day, we say goodbye to the desert and head towards the fascinating city of Fes, one of Morocco’s cultural gems. The journey takes us through
picturesque landscapes and charming villages, where we can stop to enjoy local hospitality and do some shopping for unique souvenirs.
Upon arrival in Fes, we immerse ourselves in the old medina, exploring its labyrinthine streets and discovering its impressive historical monuments. We visit the famous University of Al-Qarawiyyin, the oldest mosque in Morocco, and the bustling souk of the city. With our hearts full of memories and experiences, we say goodbye to Morocco with the promise of returning one day to continue exploring its wonders.
